Garlic Steak and Mushroom Stuffed Bread Loaf!

My Honey! He loves sautéed mushrooms! Especially my sautéed mushrooms! He loves steak, he loves bread… hence Garlic Steak and Mushroom Stuffed Bread Loaf! Some time ago I did a post for my Italian Sausage Stuffed Bread Loaf! it was amazing! Amazing! Ever since then I have wanted to do another one. I also am creating a veggie one as well (that one is all for me!). So, if you love meaty, garlic and mushroom-y things, you will love this! I am certain of it! Serves 2

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 Cup Slice Mushrooms Your favorite variety
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 tsp. dried tarragon
  • ½ pound boneless beef bottom round cut into small pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 half size Italian bread loaf
  • 5 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. finely minced garlic I used Gourmet Garden Garlic Stir-in Paste
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley
  • 1 – 2 tbsp. shredded parmesan cheese


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat. mushrooms and cook while stirring until they start to soften. Add the tarragon. Stir in the garlic and cook an additional minute. Now add the steak and cook until it starts to brown. Add the salt and pepper. Remove from heat. Cut the top of the bread loaf out and set aside. Remove some of the inside of the loaf to make it hollow. Lay 3 slices of cheese on the bottom of the loaf. Spread the meat and mushroom mixture on top using a slotted spoon. Lay the last two slices of cheese on top. Replace the top of the bread. Wrap the loaf in foil and pop into the oven for 10 minutes. Mix the mayo, parsley and garlic paste together. Remove loaf and uncover. Brush the mayo mixture over the top and sides of the loaf. Sprinkle with parmesan. Place back in the oven until browned and melty. Cut into pieces and serve hot with salad.

** UPDATE: My Honey really did love this creation! I will have to put it on the list to make again! It even reheated well wrapped in foil and heated at 350°F for about ½ hour.
