Summertime Update!
By: Kecia’s Flavor Breakthrough!
Something a little different today. I have been a bit lax at posting things. I know… I think for a while I was getting a little discouraged. Blogging is a lot of fun, but sometimes it is tough because it is difficult to get your blog and all of your social media noticed. That can be discouraging at times. But, then something will happen to get you re-motivated and energized. For me it was my friend Kelly from Wildflour’s Cottage Kitchen (let me tell you, you HAVE to go visit her blog!) inviting me into the Burger Month group and posting my burger, The Garbage Plate Burger! (If you missed it you have to check it out!) That being said, I have been trying to make small changes to make things more consistent between my social media and my site. And coming up with new recipes!
So, now that I am really excited and motivated, it is summer. SUMMER people! Our season here in upstate NY is short. I mean, very short! You blink, you miss it! Seriously! This means that all the fun and all the chores of summer need to be packed into a short amount of time. I was thinking that I could show you some of the things I’ve been packing in! And tell you why I love summertime here.
We host an annual 4th of July party every year for my husband’s side of the family. Everyone comes over for food and fun. So most of the time in the weeks leading up to it, we spend a lot of time working on the yard to make it nice for our party. Cleaning up the pool, working on the flower beds and garden.
This year my Honey made me some wonderful raised garden boxes, so I don’t have to bend over to plant or weed. He really is the best!! ♥
I do love our yard. Especially in the spring and summer. The trees, the green and the flowers. We have birds, deer a fox and bunch of bunnies!
Last year we added two decks and a patio! My Honey did such a fantastic job building them and I so proud of him! He is so very talented! I am excited to spend time enjoying them!
Currently, we have a pair of barn swallows and a robin nesting under our back deck. So far the robin has laid 2 eggs and the barn swallow five!! I am looking forward to when they all hatch.
The other thing we love to do in the summer is to take the motorcycle out. There are so many wonderful parks to go to, waterfalls to see, trails to hike and ice cream to eat! We enjoy taking little rides to a nice location to hike, picnic and just enjoy the nice weather.
The warmer weather also makes it nice to sit out on the front deck and watch the sunsets. I am so very fortunate to have the perfect view from atop a hill! We have some spectacular sunsets! The other evening happened to be the best of the season so far!
We also try to make time to enjoy camp fires! Trying to make hanging out with the dogs a priority, too! As well as walks in the back field!
So, as you can see… things are always hoppin’ here in the summertime. I really am going to work on coming up with some fun and creative recipes to share with you. Maybe some adventures along the way, too!
Always remember, if it is as good on the plate as it is in my head, recipes will post soon!
And have a fantastic summer!
Yours,
Kecia
