Chicken Cordon Bleu Burgers!
By: Kecia’s Flavor Breakthrough!
I love a good burger, now a stuffed burger? That is one of my favorites. Taking a big bite and getting an ooey gooey flavorful surprise hidden in the middle is fantastic! I love chicken cordon bleu, but I don’t make it often because it is really heavy. I am always trying to come up with a new burger that is a step above a plain ole burger, too. So I thought this would be a slightly healthier and totally flavorful combination! And topping it off with my friend Linda from Meal Planning Maven’s Creamy Honey Dijon Dressing so good!!
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground chicken (ground turkey would work, too)
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- 4 pieces of ham, measuring about 2”x2” about a ¼”thick (Deli ham would work, too)
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese, cut in half
- 1 Tbsp. onion, finely minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Several spinach leaves
- 4 slices of tomato
- 4 tbsp. Meal Planning Maven’s Creamy Honey Dijon Dressing
- 4 whole wheat or multi grain buns
Preheat grill to medium heat
In a bowl combine the ground chicken and garlic together. Take a quarter of the mixture and form a ball. Using your thumb make an indent, making it large enough to place the stuffing in. Place some of the ham cubes in the indent, now fold a piece of the cheese in half and place in the indent with the ham. Add a bit of the onion.
Now enclose the stuffing with the chicken, carefully sealing in. (You don’t want that cheese to drip out when it melts!) Repeat with all 4 burgers.
Season with the salt and pepper, be careful not over salt, the ham and cheese is already a bit salty. Place on grill. After 5 minutes flip the burger and grill another 5 minutes, flip one more time Place another piece of cheese on top and cook 2 more minutes. Remove from heat.
Open buns and place a burger on each bun, top with some of the spinach and a tomato slice.
Spread a tablespoon of the dressing on the inside of the top of each bun and place on top of the burger.
Cut in half and serve. Yummy!!!!
Kecia, you are really the “sandwich queen” and this one rocks it for sure! So happy you found my dressing pairs so nicely with it!
Thank you Linda! The dressing really was wonderful on this sandwich!! I can’t wait to create another one with that buttermilk dressing you posted!
