A good gravy can really complete a meal. Gravy is soooo easy to make, too. This one takes a little extra time because of the caramelized onions, but again it is so worth it! The onions add a real richness to the gravy and compliments so many meats. I use it on Crock Pot Meatloaf, beef roast and even pork roast. Enjoy!

Caramelized Onion and Beef Gravy

2 Tbsp Olive Oil

1 Sweet onion finely diced

1 Tsp sugar

¼ cup Marsala wine

2 ¼ Cups Beef Broth Divided

1 tsp garlic powder

2 Tbls flour

Salt and Pepper to taste

In deep skillet heat oil over medium low heat, add onion and cook until soft and translucent, sprinkle sugar over onions and stir.

Continue to cook and stir until the onion starts to become a caramel color, stir in wine to deglaze pan.

Pour in 2 cups of the beef broth and garlic powder, heat until boiling. In the meantime whisk together ¼ cup broth with the flour. When onion mixture comes to a boil, whisk in flour mixture. Continue to whisk and heat until desired consistency.
