Toasted Ham Sub!
By: Kecia’s Flavor Breakthrough!
So tonight I got home and was going to make a sandwich with some chicken. I forgot to take it out of the freezer! Now what? Well I had some really good ham left over so I used that instead. We really loved this sandwich! I reminded me of the sandwich I use to order once in a while at Pizza Hut many years ago. Hope you enjoy this as much as we did, I will be making it again at my house!
- 2 hoagie or sub rolls
- 6 oz. of cooked ham, cut up (you can use deli ham if you wish)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 2 bell pepper slices
- 2 thin slices of red onion
- ½ cup shredded Romaine lettuce
- ¼ cup chopped tomato
- Several hot pepper rings (Optional)
- ¼ cup of your favorite Italian dressing
Preheat Oven to 400°F
Cut up the ham into the rolls and place on a baking sheet covered with foil or parchment paper. Place in the oven for about 5 minutes or until they start to toast and the ham starts to warm.
Put ¼ of the cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Top with ½ the ham on each bun. Put the rest of the cheese over the ham and sprinkle with the Italian seasoning.
Place back into oven for about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted and ham is completely heated through.
Move your sandwiches to plates. Top with the hot pepper rings, bell pepper slices, red onion slices.
Add lettuce and tomato. Drizzle with the Italian dressing.
Cut in half and serve.
