Oven Baked Fries!

I really enjoy French Fries, problem is they are not so great for me! So… I thought I would jump on the baked fry band wagon… The think I like about these is that I can season them anyway I want to depending on what I am serving them with! Just plain salt for a burger, maybe some rosemary and olive oil for a Rustic Turkey Sandwich or tonight with my Turkey, Avocado and Bacon Grilled Cheese I will do a little garlic and salt with olive oil… maybe next one will be something a little spicy. They are fun and versatile so experiment!
- 4 medium red potatoes, peeled
- Nonstick cooking spray (or line cookie sheet with parchment paper)
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- Seasoning (suggestions below)
- – Salt
- – Italian herbs
- – Rosemary
- – Garlic powder
- – Chili powder
- – Lawrey’s season salt
- – Tony Chacher’s
- – Greek Seasoning
Preheat oven to 400° F
Slice potatoes into French fry strips, I like them about 1/4” thick.
Place in a bowl and soak in a little water to remove excess starch, helps them crisp up a little more.
Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
In a plastic zipper bag or container with a lid place olive oil and your desired seasoning. Tonight I think I will use a little garlic powder and kosher salt. Add potatoes and seal.
Shake well to coat.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or spray with nonstick spray and place a layer of coated potatoes on paper. Place in oven and bake for 15 minutes, remove and turn fries.
Bake an additional 10 – 15 minute or until fries are browned.
Remove from oven and serve immediately
