So at the store the other day I was picking up items to recreate a sandwich I made in the past, but I stumbled over this thin sliced steak for stir fry, so I picked it up. I really have been craving a gooey melty sandwich lately though. I need to use this meat though! So, I guess I will make two sandwiches this week. My men will love that!
Serves 3… two Hungry Men and me.
- 2 tbsp. olive oil mayo
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp. shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 sweet onion, thinly sliced
- ½ bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 6 slices of provolone cheese
- 1 pound thinly sliced steak
- 6 slices sour dough or Italian bread
n a small bowl combine: Olive oil mayo, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese. Set aside.
In a skillet heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and pepper. Cook until vegetables become soft.
Add steak slices and brown. Remove from heat.
Spread mayo mixture on three slices of bread and place them mayo side down in a large skillet.
Place a slice of cheese on each piece of bread, top with a bit of the beef mixture. I usually put more on my men’s sandwich, I like it a little thinner. Next top with another slice of cheese. Spread the rest of the mayo mixture on the last three slices of bread. Place bread mayo side up on each sandwich.
Sometimes you have to get a little creative! Cover and cook over medium low heat until bread starts to brown.
I like mine a little on the light brown side, then flip and repeat.
Cut in half and serve with a salad. Or Oven Baked Fries! MMMMM!!
*You can add additional items to the meat mixture, such as… jalapenos, mushrooms, whatever you like!
