BBQ Onion Burgers!

We had our annual family after the 4th of July party this past weekend! Every year we always buy too much food. So I am finding ways to create recipes with some of the left overs! Tonight’s recipe will feature a few of the left over uncooked hamburger patties and some left over BBQ sauce and a few of the boat load of left over buns! The rest of the patties will hit the freezer for another few meals! We do seem to really like a good juicy and sloppy burger at my house, so this will fit the bill!
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 4 hamburger patties or (1 pound of ground beef)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shreds
- ½ cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
In skillet heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until it becomes soft and slightly browning. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preheat grill to Medium heat. Place patties on grill. Cook for 5 minutes, flip and cook another 5 minutes. Flip again.
Divide cheese over the tops of each patty. Let cheese melt. While cheese is melting place buns open side down on top grate of grill to lightly toast.
Place buns on plates and top with a burger. Spoon a little sauce over each burger then top of with the onion.
Serve hot with a salad, beans or Super Simple Slaw
